The ESL Counter Strike: Global Offensive Season 10 5th event at Odense starts up December 3rd. The tournament will take place until the 8th of December and boasts a $600,000 Prize Pool shared between all 16 teams in attendance. The tournament winner will take home a majority share of $250,000, but whoever they are does have a long road ahead of them.
The Group Stage starts off with two double-elimination format Groups where each group has eight teams seeded based on Regular Season placement. The initial matches are Bo1 but all the following matches are Bo3 The top three teams from each group are seeded into the playoffs with 1st seeds slotting into the semifinals and the 2nd seed teams facing the opposite group’s 3rd seed.
There are 16 teams attending the tournament and as Counter Strike goes, any of them could take home the tournament win. The teams in attendance are;
All of these teams have made waves this year, some just bigger than others. Fnatic and Astralis are early favorites to win it all and Team Liquid, G2, and 100 Thieves all have proven their worth over the past year.
Sharks Esports, TYLOO, and ATK bring up the underdogs who need a few miracles here or there in order for them to come out on top, but they are all capable of pulling it off on the right days. Everyone else should be considered playoff worthy if not Finals worthy.
The Prize Pool isn’t the only thing on the line as the winners automatically slot into the 2020 IEM Katowice tournament. Meaning anyone else, other than Astralis and Fnatic who are prequalified, will have to either be invited or qualify via Regional Qualifiers. The tournament should be another legendary addition to this year of CS:GO tournaments, so be sure to tune in at https://www.twitch.tv/esl_csgo!
