Intel Extreme Masters Beijing is a part of the Season 3 Intel Grand Slam, it is the 4th event of the season and hosts some of the most prominent teams in Counter Strike: Global Offensive. Starting November 7th, the Double elimination GSL format Group Stage begins with two groups. The top two teams in each group will move on to the Playoffs where the teams battle it out for the grand prize of $125,000 (prize pool of $250,00). There are eight teams attending, five of whom were invited and two who qualified through the Asian and Chinese Qualifiers; Invited teams: Qualified teams: Currently the rankings indicate that Evil Geniuses are the #1 World Ranked team with Astralis not far behind aat #2. Vitality falls a bit at #5 and 100 Thieves and FaZe currently at #8 and #9 respectively. As it stands right now any of these teams have a chance to win it all based off their world rankings, but Astralis come in as the true favorites, even if not by much. ENCE comes in as #14 with ViCi and TYLOO not breaking top 30. ViCi and TYLOO are indefinitely the underdogs but they aren’t new names to the scene and as such, we’ve seen them pull off bigger heists than some others named here. TYLOO will be a fan favorite and ViCi the hometown heroes will surely receive plenty of support from the crowd. Seeing as we have 5 of the current top 10 teams it is hard to say, even with Astralis in the mix a bad day could tighten the margins even more. It would be safe to say that ViCi and TYLOO as well as even 100 Thieves and ENCE lack the firepower to take this S-tier tournament, but at the same time all they really need are an upset or two to become finalists.
