#HomeSweetHome week 3 has been concluded!

Third week of #HomeSweetHome has been wrapped up!

Last night #HomeSweetHome and its third week came to an end as a champion was determined, which also meant they brought home $30,000! The semifinals had clear favourites in Complexity Gaming and BIG, but it would not turn out to be all that easy for one of them. BIG was also chasing a the triple, as they had won the two previous weeks. Below we will recap both the semifinals and the Grand Final that followed, as well as crowning our MVP for the third edition of #HomeSweetHome. Semifinals

Complexity Gaming - Endpoint 2-0 (16-2,16-9)

Complexity was one of the newcomers in #HomeSweetHome, but there was no doubt they came to the tournament as a favourite to win it all, as they normally face world class opposition in ESL Pro League and ESL One: Road to Rio. They would also show their skill in this matchup and on their map pick of Mirage they made their opponents in Endpoint look helpless. A 13-2 lead from the T side was converted into a complete smashing by 16-2. Valentin “poizon” Vasilev has showed his skill time after time in #HomeSweetHome already and on this map he ended the game with an excellent 26-6 scoreline, with an astonishing 146 ADR. Even if the second map, Dust2, would be a bit closer, it does not mean there was much of a battle going on. The superstar Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke had a field day as he played with his pray and ended the map with 25 frags. Endpoint ends the third week with a respectable result, but in this series they simply couldn’t challenge Complexity at all. With that said, there is no shame for Endpoint who has played their best week of #HomeSweetHome this far, and if they keep up their improvements they might be able to put up more of a fight further down the line.

BIG - SMASH Esports 2-1 (12-16,16-13,16-9)

The two time champions BIG was undoubtedly the favourite to grab a spot in the Grand Final, but SMASH would not give that up for free. Dust2, the map pick of BIG, was to be played first and SMASH went on their highest gear from start to grab a 9-6 lead on their T side. We have praised Kristjan “shokz” Jakobson during this week and once again he helped his team immensely as SMASH closed Dust2 out, 16-12, to grab a 1-0 lead going into their own map pick of Overpass. The map pick itself could be looked at as controversial as SMASH had a chance to pick up their strongest map, Mirage, but passed up on the opportunity. It’s easy to judge in hindsight, but the fact is BIG got themselves back in this series by barely closing Overpass out, 16-13. The third and final map of Nuke would become something of a show from Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz, who has had an excellent third week of #HomeSweetHome overall. 28 frags and 122 ADR tells most of the story and BIG could finally take their spot in their third straight final after winning convincingly, 16-9. All in all the third week of the tournament has been an excellent showing by SMASH, who just missed out on a final spot, but the result itself should be viewed as a huge success.

Grand Final

Complexity Gaming - BIG 2-1 (19-16,17-19,16-10)

The final we had all expected from the third week of #HomeSweetHome would become the nailbiter we had hoped for. It would all kick off with both teams winning the other teams map pick after overtime both times. Complexity won Inferno, 19-16, and BIG won Nuke, 19-17. It’s fair to say we couldn’t have asked for a better start to the final and besides the exciting games we have to highlight Kristian “k0nfig” Weineckes amazing performances on both maps as he had 32 and 33 frags respectively, which was a server high both times. The conclusion of the final would be decided on Dust2, which for both teams is an excellent map, but it would be Complexity who stepped up at the final hour. An impressive 10-5 lead on the CT side set the team up to bring the trophy home on the favoured T side. Said and done, Complexity managed to win their needed rounds and at the end of the day take a very well deserved win. When it was announced that Complexity would join #HomeSweetHome it was clear they would be a favourite to win, but their way to the title has been impressive nonetheless and this final truly delivered CS on a level we might have missed out on before. Next week Complexity gets a chance to defend their title and with BIG not participating it is really hard to find a challenger for them.

#HomeSweetHome Week 2 MVP

Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke

This honor could in all honesty go to almost anybody in the team of Complexity Gaming, and maybe especially Benjamin “blameF” Bremer, who had an outstanding first week in #HomeSweetHome, but there was still someone who outperformed his heroic acts. As we speculated before the third week started Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke is a player of a caliber #HomeSweetHome has not yet seen. He ends the tournament with a magnificent 1.48 rating and +95 frags over 12 played maps. The numbers speak their own story, but it is his clutch performance in the Grand Final that stands out the most as he was instrumental in making sure Complexity Gaming even got the series to the third map. K0nfig has not had the easiest time in his career and while he was considered one of Denmarks most promising players in his youth it never truly bloomed. Now, years later, he once again is starting to look on fire. This performance in #HomeSweetHome showed what k0nfig is capable of and we look forward to see him deliver more of the same thing next week, when Complexity enters the server to defend their champion status!
