#HSH Week 8: Group D Preview
The last group of #HomeSweetHomes final week is upon us and as always we preview the teams. AGF Esport, Complexity Gaming, Hard Legion ...
The fourth week of #HomeSweetHome is nearing its end and only the semifinals and the grand final remains. With that said it’s time for us to have a look at how the four quarterfinals played out, as they had quite a few interesting results. As always we will also preview the upcoming games to give our final predictions on how we will it will play out. Four teams remain to fight for the $40,000 that gets awarded every week! If you want to read more about #HomeSweetHome and the tournament as a whole head over to our event page! In the first quarterfinal of #HomeSweetHome we saw Sprout handle business as they closed out a close win against Salamander, even if it got tougher than most would have expected. Two of the stars of the team in Josef “faveN” Baumann and Pawel “dycha” Dycha showed up when their team needed it the most. Complexity are the reigning champions and they truly showed why as they obliterated Endpoint after a magnificent performance by Valentin “poizon” Vasilev. There is no doubt the team moves on as a massive favourite to repeat their win. The third quarterfinal was the first where we would see a surprise, even if it wasn’t on a massive scale, but Secret and especially Flatron “juanflatroo” Halimi showed they are the real deal by destroying the dreams of SMASH after a great two map series. In the last quarter Hard Legion proved their worth as they beat Gambit Youngsters quite convincingly, but due to being double booked the team will have to pass up on their spot in the semifinals, and instead Gambit Youngsters gets a second chance to move on in #HomeSweetHome. Their best result in the tournament might not come by the strength of their own, but it is nevertheless an excellent chance to reach the Grand Final. The first semifinal pair in the fourth week of #HomeSweetHome is most definitely an unexpected one and as we mentioned Gambit Youngsters only got the spot due to Hard Legion needing to drop out. Secret on the other hand has shown up in the tournament and after their first showing ending in the groups against tough opposition in BIG and Endpoint, they now find themselves in the semis after winning their group ahead of Complexity, SINNERS and ESPADA. Adding their win against SMASH into that mix and things are looking amazing for the team and Dionis “sinnopsyy” Budeci and the earlier mentioned juanflatroo has looked red hot this far. Gambit Youngsters are truly a hard team to evaluate and when things look good they are great, but it happens far too frequently to make them a real threat. The young talents needs to show up on their best today to have a fighting chance to make it to the final and as much as it is a possibility, we think it’s far more likely the consistency of Secret will prevail. Sprout have two previous playoffs showings in #HomeSweetHome, but those have ended abruptly in the quarters. It seems their new addition of Michał “snatchie” Rudzki is working out well and in the groups they gathered wins against Gambit Youngsters and Copenhagen Flames, which was followed up by a close win against Salamander in the quarters. As much as the team seems to have at least improved their toughest challenge, by far, is still awaiting. Even if Complexity struggled in the groups with a loss to SINNERS Esports, they have picked up and showed their real strength when needed and the quarterfinal win against Endpoint was a real statement of that. It’s hard to highlight a few players from the team as they all can perform on a world class level at any given point, but Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke, Benjamin “blameF” Bremer and the earlier mentioned poizon might still be the most noteworthy players in the team right now. K0nfig won our MVP in the previous week and it looks very likely he could repeat that honor this time around. It’s close to impossible to find an argument for Sprout in this matchup and the same will be true for any opponent in the final for Complexity. No discussion needed - Complexity are too strong for Sprout and any other opponent remaining in #HomeSweetHome.
